RUDY ARENDT (1941-2006)

Rudy Arendt, Vice President and co-founder of MGA Research Corporation died on February 5, 2006 at the age of 64.

Rudy acquired his B.S. degree in Electrical Engineering from the Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute and a Professional Engineer (PE) license in engineering. In 1977, Rudy co-founded MGA Research with Patrick Miller (President) and Jim Greene (Rudy is the “A” in MGA).  Prior to co-founding MGA, Rudy worked at Calspan Corporation as a Senior Electronics Engineer in their Transportation Research Department.

Throughout his 40-year career Rudy developed a world-wide reputation as an expert in vehicle crashworthiness and automotive safety.  Rudy had a significant influence on auto safety in the Korean automobile market where he was commonly known by customers as “Mr. Rudy”, the expert in automotive safety.

Rudy was also dedicated to transferring his expertise to young engineers at MGA, and helped lay the foundation for many people to pursue their own careers in auto safety and other industries.  He was a wonderful mentor to associates at MGA (past and present), and a good friend to many of our customers.  We mourn the loss of a brilliant engineer, mentor, and friend.
